Toxic Threats To Your
Immune System & Skin Health
Skin conditions and skin rashes will reveal the toxic threats to skin health and the necessity to
cleanse your body on the inside.
Properly prescribed pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications greatly tax the liver and kidneys, making
it extremely important to cleanse these organs so they can operate efficiently. Even more so if you smoke, have
been exposed to second-hand smoke, used illegal drugs, or consume alcohol.
Serious Toxins Affect Our Immune System & Skin Health
As you would expect, the most common and serious toxins affecting our immune system and skin health come from
synthetic sources. A partial list includes:
- Additives in personal care products
- Fire retardants
- Chemicals added to clothing, furniture, carpets, cleaners, paint and so forth
- Industrial by-products creating pollutants in the air and water
- Chemicals sprayed in farming produce
Some of the worst toxic offenders:
- Heavy Metals (such as mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium)
- Pesticides and herbicides
- PCBs
- Dioxins and furans
- VOCs (volatile organic compounds found in many paint type materials), and
- Phthalates, to name just a few.
Cancers, Skin Rashes, Allergic Reactions & Other Damage
In addition to cancers, skin rashes and allergic reactions, these toxins are known or suspected of damage such
as:
- Brain and nervous system
- Kidney and renal system
- Immune System
- Gastrointestinal tract
- Endocrine system
- Reproductive and fertility systems
- Birth defects and delays in childhood development
Example: Propylene Glycol
Let's use "propylene glycol" as a practical example (and it's not the worst of the worst).
Propylene glycol is a solvent used in anti-freeze solutions and hydraulic fluids. The same form of this
solvent is also used as a humectant (to maintain softness and keep things from drying out) in pet food,
processed foods, baby wipes and other personal care items such as cosmetics.
It's used in food, too. We found propylene glycol among the ingredients listed on a brand of Pina Colada mix a
friend brought home from vacation to show us. (Ready to gag?)
Really, do you want to consume a chemical solvent that (according to its own Material Safety Data Sheet) has
been "implicated in contact dermatitis, kidney damage and liver abnormalities; can inhibit skin cell growth in
human tests and can damage cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin and surface damage"?
According to a 1991 article in The American Academy of Dermatologists, Inc., "a published clinical review showed
propylene glycol causes a significant number of reactions and was a primary irritant to the skin even in low levels
of concentrations."
Yup, that's what I want to feed my dog and wipe my baby's skin with ... NOT!
Go "Skindeep" To Educate Yourself
Since 2004, consumers are lucky to have EWG's "Skin Deep," an online database of safety ratings for thousands of
personal care products created by The Environmental Working Group.

There is no real reason to use artificial chemicals in any food or personal care products. Read labels. Discard
every product with ingredients you know to be dangerous. In the future, buy only pure, safe, natural
products.
Remember, if it's good for your immune system, it is good for your skin. You deserve a fresh start!
